Salem is a high voltage (30V) step-up converter with driver designed to drive capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUT) used in ultrasound. Salem has a programmable output step-up voltage that is supplied from a low voltage supply (VDD). There is a fast, high voltage amplifier (4-ohm) that drives the transducer with high voltage pulses. The size and shape of the pulse is generated through a custom pulse generator which can be configured for number of pulses, frequency and duty cycle required for the application transducer. There is an open drain flag (PP) that is active when the transducer is being driven. Salem is configured to be controlled through an I2C bus. If I2C is not available, Salem can be factory configured to use pins ‘CE’,’CLOCK’ and ‘FIRE’ to control the driver.
